PUSH Therapy Information

The PUSH Therapy organization was founded and created by Michael Takatsuno. Over 25 years ago, Michael was a tennis pro with a debilitating sports injury.
An encounter with Zen therapy began his eight-year path as a healer and he began looking at different bodywork modalities to end the suffering of pain and tension.

After experiencing many different modalities, he became dissatisfied with the application and long term results. He ended up at San Francisco State University, where he spent 18 months in the PT program studying the inter connection of the structural and muscular systems, which lead him into the development of the muscle therapy system known today as PUSH Therapy.

With his Tai Chi background, along with a strong emphasis on anatomical and physiological design, he began to build the foundation of PUSH Therapy and a successful private practice in California.

Still focusing on the the simplicity and logic of the muscular system, in 2003 Michael was called to begin teaching his therapy to others and began certifying PUSH Therapists in California, Colorado and Illinois. Today, he continues to develop specialized work and teach advanced workshops to PUSH therapists around the country.

Bri Carter, here at Lotus Bodyworks, began her study of PUSH Therapy with Michael Takatsuno in 2006 and is a Certified PUSH Training Assistant.  Over the last five years, Bri has traveled and studied cutting edge methods of treatment and rehabilitation for chronic pain and sports injury under Michael as he continues to revolutionize musculoskeletal treatment in his field.
